Looks was not why bakuhanseki was chosen as building material, though. The stone gives the water a smoother quality, which in turn allows the water to warm up those bathing in it right to their core, enhancing the good effects of the bath.

Nothing like dipping into a nice long outdoor bath after hiking up Mount Yoshino for a nice and relaxing end to an activity-filled day!
